Today I Will...Tuesdays
Today I had planned to get up and workout. Plans went awry, chaos ensued, and my window to workout has come and gone. Thanks to a computer glitch I had to spend my morning workout window redoing research for the interior deisgn firm that I work for. I'm only alloted four hours each day to work for the firm so I was pretty ticked off when my computer decided to shut own in the middle of my research project. Document recovery was no use in this instance because I made a rookie mistake and had forgotten to save my work as I added information to the spreadsheet. Thank you McAfee!
It can get pretty overwhelming trying to work several jobs and meet deadlines on time. I couldn't get to sleep last night thinking about everything that I had to get done for the week. And as the clock kept ticking away the time on my nightstand I realized that if I'm going to make this multiple job/multiple task situation work long-term then I was going to have to set aside blocks of time each day of the week in order to make sure that I have enough time for each task.
After scouring the internet for a great layout to use that was simple, functional, and aesthetically appealing I came across a screen shot of this:
I have an iPhone but I thought it would also be great to work up something similar to this in Excel, print it out, and put it on my wall by my desk. Then I would literally have my schedule for the week at a glance on my wall. How do you stay organized and on top of deadlines?
Makes Me...Mondays
Ever had one of those days when you just wake up pissed off and ready to spit fire? It's been a rough couple of weeks for me and today was just one of those days. I woke up fighting mad and instead of using the occassion to stuff my face with cookies or some other crap I hopped on YouTube and made a playlist of running songs. It was a pretty good exercise because I actually tested out a few of the songs to be sure that I could use them while working out. I started with Florence + the Machine's Dog Days and worked my way through to The Pretty Reckless' Hit Me Like A Man. By the end of the playlist I was feeling pretty pumped. Maybe there really is something to this runner's high that I've heard about. I just know that I felt pretty freaking awesome afterwards.
